Matt Cardy on Alien Acid.com

Matt Cardy is a 'Jack of all trades, master of none'. A self-confessed work-a-holic, foodie and has an eclectic taste when it comes to music. His favourite band is Pink Floyd and says he can find enjoyment in so many different kinds of music.

Having always loved music and a penchant for talking fluent bollocks, he says on being a radio presenter, 'Radio has always been a love of mine. I love listening to it and always saw myself behind the mic.' In the late 90's he started bugging the crap out of presenters on a local station where his friend Chris Marsden felt sorry for him and helped him get into Hospital Radio.

'From the first moment I got in the studio I was in awe of my surroundings, I learned how to use the mixing desk which was a relief and started doing my first show. It was total and utter shite!' Says Matt.

After a couple more shows he got the hang of what he was doing and started getting better although his trademark broadcasting style is fast-talking and tripping over his words!

From Hospital Radio he was picked up by commercial radio in the unlikely setting while working in a call centre. He did a brief stint on the mid-morning slot before being asked to Take over the Breakfast Show. 'I jumped at the chance!' Says Matt. 'I honestly thought they were joking and then the grim realisation hit when I had to get up a 4am after a night on the pop. It was worth every sleepless night though.'

Matt has other interests in his life other than being an audiophile. He enjoys driving, photography, cooking, eating, drinking and when he finds the time, writing. He also is a fan of some football team called Totenham Hotspur.
