"Shrag" by Shrag – A Short Biography
Shrag have made five 7" singles for "Where It's At Is Where You Are". They were recorded at the Red Room in Brighton by Stuart Troop and mixed by Woodie Taylor (Comet Gain / Love Is All) at Milou Studio. Four singles have already been released and were available through the Rough Trade shop and website. The five singles, and some extras, will comprise the debut album "Shrag" by Shrag to be released by WIAIWYA, January 2009. The album will also be released in Japan by "Knew Noise Recordings".
Shrag were invited by The Cribs to join them on their 2007 UK tour, and last supported them in May 2008. Shrag have also supported Love Is All, The Raincoats, Los Campesinos, Ill Ease, Partyline, French Toast, The Television Personalities, and comedian Ted Chippington. Shrag sneaked into the US & Canada, and borrowed instruments to play shows in New York, Washington D.C., and Toronto. Shrag have recorded radio sessions for Resonance FM (London) and for BBC Radio 6 on Mark Riley's show.
Shrag rocked out at twee festy Indietracks 2008, and ended up in a St John's Ambulance. Shrag support Ladyfest and played the Leeds event last year and will play this year's Ladyfest Manchester supporting Manda Rin (Bis).
Shrag are Helen King (vocals, Yamaha AN200); Stephanie Goodman (vocals, keyboards); Leigh Anne Walter (vocals, drums); Bob Brown (vocals, guitar); Russell Warrior (bass).
The word Shrag means 'to lob twigs off branches'.
